“The boy never cried again, and he never forgot what he'd learned: that to love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed.” ― Cassandra Clare

Title: City of Bones
Author: Cassandra Clare
First Published: 2007
Language: English
Pages: 485

Goodreads summary:
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Review:
A few years ago, when I hadn’t even heard about this book, I watched the movie. I enjoyed it quite a bit actually. When I did a bit of research I understood that it was a book to movie adaptation and because of its poor reviews, the movie didn’t get a follow-up. I felt disappointed to be honest because the movie on its own is marvelous in my opinion.

I have to mention one thing about myself before continuing. I forget about acquired information pretty quickly. It’s not something I can change and I’ve come to terms with it. No matter how much I’ve loved a book or a film, I’ll forget many important stuff within. Actually, that does make rereading books quite enjoyable so I’m not complaining. The reason I’m mentioning this fact is because when I started reading City of Bones, I forgot all about it. That doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy watching it.

I can't believe I didn't read this novel earlier. Oh yes, it was doubtlessly an excellent read. Actually, I have already read the first few chapters of the 2nd book (City of Ashes) because I simply COULD NOT wait. That news toward the end was dropped on me like a bomb! I DID NOT expect that to happen AT ALL! (See what I mean when I say that I forget about stuff?) I'm telling you, that news better be a mistake or false information or I'm going to LOSE my mind. This CANNOT be happening!

I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading YA books filled with supernatural beings.
